Ashley Maria Watson is an emerging contemporary abstract artist who lives and works in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. A graduate of Spelman College and a native of Prince George’s County, her colorful paintings symbolize a variety of emotional experiences. Working predominately with acrylic paints, she focuses on texture and color, and how they manipulate positive and negative spaces. Inspired by artist’s such as Jackson Pollock and Romare Bearden, she enjoys experimenting with color combinations and the illusions of texture.
